There are very few jewellery collections that can genuinely be called iconic. The Cartier Love Collection is one of them.

More than fifty years after it was first introduced, it's still one of the pieces I'm asked about most often. Whether it's a bracelet, ring or pendant, people continue to come back to the Love Collection because it manages to do something very few designs achieve: it feels just as relevant today as it did when it was created.

So what makes it so enduring?

A design with a story

Designed by Aldo Cipullo in 1969, the Cartier Love Bracelet was inspired by the idea of commitment.

Its distinctive screw motif and unique locking mechanism were intended to symbolise lasting love, making it very different from traditional jewellery of the time.

It was bold, modern and instantly recognisable. More than half a century later, that design has hardly changed.

I've bought and sold many Cartier Love pieces over the years, and demand has never really disappeared.

I check the hallmarks and serial numbers carefully, along with the overall finish and condition of the screws.

If the original box, certificate and screwdriver are still present, that's always a welcome bonus.

Most importantly, I want to be completely confident that the piece is authentic before it ever reaches a client.

Is the Cartier Love Collection right for everyone?

Not necessarily. Some people prefer more intricate designs or colourful gemstones.

But if you're looking for a piece that's timeless, versatile and likely to remain desirable for years to come, it's easy to understand why the Love Collection has become one of Cartier's greatest success stories.

It's one of those rare designs that feels just as appropriate with jeans and a white shirt as it does with evening wear.
